
Yama Rahimi
Yama Rahimi was born in Kabul, Afghanistan; finished high school in Germany; studied photography, web and graphic design in San Francisco before attending Los Angeles Film School to study film. He established WHY R? FILMS in 2002. He has written, directed, and produced two short films, "Object of Affection" and "Suspicion." He's currently developing several feature films, including "The Bracelet Seller", "Shame", and "The Price of Courage" to be filmed in Afghanistan; two documentaries "Before the Dawn: Afghanistan in Peace" and "Only His Voice Remains: The Legend of Ahmad Zahir" and the visual effects extravaganza "Laila and her Romeo."
Yama Rahimi was one of the eight producers selected for the prestigious
"Produire Au Sud" Seminar at the Festival of 3Continents in
Nantes, France in November of 2004. He's also a member of the "Producer's
Network" at Cannes Film Festival where he was the first ever producer
from Afghanistan in 2005 and 2006.
